Catalino’s letters
Each of the two volumes begins with exerpts from letters by Catalino, written from 1987 - 1994. Volume one tells of the hardships of farm life and the devasting effects of a hurricane. The images show daily life on the fields and in the small town Tekit. Volume two concerns the days of fiesta, the waiting for it in the letters and the mix of culture identification in the photographs of processions, dance and bullfight.
The semi-transparent photographs of Stephan Köhler are printed in darkroom on the silver-gelatine penetrated japanese paper made by the photographer in his Paper Bridge Mill in Gifu.
The design, selection and photographic printing are by CTL.
Text in spanish and english printed in letterpress.
MEXICO is housed in a wooden slipcase.

Die teilweise Transparenz der Blätter läßt beim Umblättern den Eindruck von bewegten Bildern entstehen.
Die Papiere sind einzeln herausnehmbar und so gut und einfach als Graphikblätter zu präsentieren. Buchblock 18x51cm.; aufgeschlagen ist der Band einen Meter breit. Einband: flexibler Leineneinband. Die Buchdeckel sind innen mit roter Seide bespannt, außen bedrucktes Buchbinderleinen, Rücken aus Metall mit Siebruck.
